I'm taking July 1st off!

On July 1 we commemorate the abolition of slavery in 1863 in Suriname and the former Netherlands Antilles and celebrate freedom (or Keti Koti or Dia di Abolishon). In reality, the enslaved were forced to continue working until 1873. The consequences of the colonial past still have an impact on the present and are the cause of current inequality in the world. But, after almost 150 years, July 1 is still not a national commemoration and holiday in the Netherlands, on which we are free and reflect on this. Together we can change this. Not by waiting, but by taking action yourself!

Together with client Tony's Chocolonely we collaborated on the campaign 'Take July 1st off until we're all free.The aim is to make Keti Koti a national day off. Tony's Chocolonely is one of the first companies in the Netherlands to give its own staff time off on this day and is now working with Nederland Wordt Beter, DeGoedeZaak, The Black Archives, LUSH and FunX to anchor this nationally.
