Issue management for Integrated Maternity Care Organizations (IGOs)

The integrated maternity care organizations (IGOs) were set up as an experiment by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport to find out how to improve cooperation within maternity care. As a region, IGOs are fully funded, which means that midwives, gynaecologists, maternity assistants, etc. must jointly make agreements on how this funding will be divided among themselves. This is different with monodisciplinary funding, where everyone can submit an invoice for themselves. The IGO experiment, set up in 2017, was extended for a year in January 2021 following a motion. This created uncertainty for the IGOs about continuing the cooperation that they had achieved with great difficulty in recent years.

Due to the uncertainty about their continued existence, the IGOs have asked Issuemakers to support and advise them on their political approach and lobbying process. With the aim: To make integrated financing a fixed method of financing possible so that the IGOs can develop further. Successfully! In May 2022 it was announced that the minister wanted to definitively implement the funding.
