The philosophy of Issuemakers immediately appealed to me – the power of issues. On my first day of internship I already learned: when something starts to chafe, it only becomes really interesting. Then you can raise an 'issue'. And that interests me! I was looking for an internship that is socially driven and where I can express my enthusiasm and curiosity. I think Issuemakers is exactly that place. I hope to learn a lot in the coming period. Taste a bit of everything: Issue management, Issue intelligence, Issue making.
The issue that is closest to my heart is the decline of democracy. The writer Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer has an interesting opinion about this. According to him, every form of government has a counterpart, and the negative counterpart of democracy is 'ochlocracy': the dictatorship of the masses. And he believes that the Netherlands is in this.
