The communications consultancy profession is very broad and is developing at breakneck speed. That is why it is important to keep our knowledge level up to date and to continually improve it. We like to stay informed of the latest developments and continually learn the latest tricks of our trade, so that we can advise our customers well.

Lotte and Judith participated in the workshop last week: Good communication, how do you do that? organized by Logeion and given by experienced spokesperson and trainer Youssef Eddini. Society is becoming increasingly assertive. And as a result, we see the demand for good spokespersons (and especially the preparation required for this) increasing. More advisors with the right knowledge to support this is therefore very important.

Using videos and practical examples, spokesperson do's and don'ts were discussed and assessed. Conclusion: good preparation is key. Failing with your preparation is preparing to fail in execution. And preparation is not: reading the statement 5 minutes before the start of the interview.

So what constitutes good preparation? Think (extensively) about the target group and (the core of) your message, possibly conduct research into the medium and the journalist, draw up statements, anticipate possible questions and their answers and finally: practice, practice and practice. A time-intensive process, but often with better outcomes.

It is one of the disciplines that we as an agency would like to be approached for. If you want to have a social impact as an organization, it is extremely important that you are able to present that intention and the accompanying substantive message in a clear and pointed manner, that you are prepared for difficult questions and more. Lotte and Judith, but also the rest of our team, are ready to help you!
