The function 

We are looking for an experienced and enterprising Director Public Affairs with substantive expertise in the field of energy and climate. You are responsible for strategically advising clients, managing teams and expanding our client portfolio.  

You have a keen eye for relevant policy developments and are able to translate these into opportunities for our clients and for our agency. As Director, you play a key role in the management team and actively build our profile within the domain of sustainability, energy and climate - nationally and European. You report to the Managing Director. 

You have an eye for detail and good communication skills in Dutch and English. In addition to your role in the management team in Amstelveen, you also identify opportunities for new business in your area of expertise. You contribute to and provide input for pitches, materials for presentations and for clients. You are responsible for gathering information and analyses on current developments and ensure an up-to-date network of contacts in the institutions in The Hague and with other important stakeholders. 

What are you going to do? 

  • Strategic advice to clients in the energy and climate sector
  • Developing and managing integrated Public Affairs and communication processes
  • Identifying political and social trends and translating them into action-oriented advice
  • Leading project teams and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Initiating and developing new business opportunities and contributing to pitches
  • Maintaining and expanding a relevant stakeholder network in political The Hague
  • Actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the Rud Pedersen Group and contribute to pan-European projects 
  • Strengthening our visibility through (digital) communication and media

Some core tasks you will focus on: 

  • Supporting the management and development of a customer portfolio in the field of including energy and climate 
  • Assist with client programs that include a full range of Public Affairs and integrate communication strategies, both in the Netherlands and within the group in pan-European projects 
  • Monitoring and reporting on policy developments and other important events 
  • Contributing to new business proposals and pitches and leading supporting teams 
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues within the Rud Pedersen Group to improve Public Affairs to develop and implement strategies within the sector 
  • Using social media and digital communication to increase the visibility of our activities and those of our clients 
  • Mentoring junior colleagues and exchanging ideas with team members 

Who are we looking for? 

  • You have at least 7 years of experience in Public Affairs, preferably in an advisory role or within government or business
  • You have demonstrable substantive knowledge of energy and climate policy and make the translation into strategic advice 
  • You have a relevant network in The Hague or have the potential to build one quickly to build 
  • You are enterprising, politically sensitive and enjoy complex issues
  • You communicate clearly and convincingly, in both Dutch and English
  • You are a team player and have experience in managing multidisciplinary teams
